Question:
Consider a gear box of a downlight with integrated GX 24 lampholders, where the lampholder housing and lamp retention are at the front part of the gear box and the lampholder contacts are fitted to the PCB of the electronic ballast.
How do we apply the needle flame test in this case:
- on the PCB only?
- on the complete lampholder, i.e. on the lampholder housing?
Decision:
The needle flame is applied to the parts which retain current carrying parts in position. The surrounding parts must be kept in place during the tests.
