Question:
What standards should be used to check appliances including luminaires or parts of
luminaires?
Rationale:
See question.
Decision:
If the luminaire and household appliance have the same function (i.e. refrigerator, range
hood, oven) , they shall comply with IEC60335-1 as far as protection against electric shock
is concerned.
In case of a luminaire and household appliance having different functions (i.e. ceiling fan
combined with lampholder) IEC 60598-1 applies for lighting function and IEC 60335-1
applies for household function (i.e. 60335-2-80 for fan).
