Sub clause: 4.11
Sheet n. 374 Page 1 (1)
Subject: Normal load conditions
Key words: - Worst condition - Manufacturer data
Decision confirmed at CTL 38th meeting
Question:
Air conditioners are required to be tested at the worst conditions within the range advised by the manufacturer.
Some laboratories are carrying out extensive testing (up to 50 load tests) to determine the worst condition
within the specified environmental range.
Is this degree of testing required? Can the manufacturer advise of the conditions that are most likely to produce
worst conditions (highest compressor current) and the laboratory carry out verification tests over a small
environment range?
Decision:
Manufacturer’s data and advice may be used to ascertain the worst case for loading within the specified
environmental range. Laboratories must confirm the operating conditions but do not need to conduct extensive
surveys over the whole operating range.
