Subject: Thickness of the specimen for the burning test in Appendix J
Key words:
-Burning test
-Thickness of specimen
Decision n. taken at 32nd meeting/1995
Question: “Filters, if any, of non-metallic materials intended for the absorption of grease are
subjected to the burning test specified in Appendix J, except that the thickness of the
specimen is the same as that in the appliance.”
Which test is made when the thickness of the specimen is the same as that in the
appliance?
Decision: Mr. Stary introduced the document on the burning test for grease filters.
The standard says that the thickness of the specimen is the same of that in the
appliance.
On the suggestion of Mr. Winther, it was decided to state in the minutes that if the
thickness of the appliance is 1mm, then we need to have a specimen of the same
thickness. In case it is not possible to have it, the manufacturer may be requested to
supply a specimen having the same thickness.
