Subject:
Comparative Tracking Index
Key words:
- CTI values
- Manufacturer’s claim
Decision taken by
ETF3 and confirmed
by CTL at its 38th
meeting, in Toronto
Questions :
1. Is the manufacturer's declaration regarding the CTI values acceptable by Test Houses?
2.Is a single test for the CTI value acceptable?
3.Which CTI value is to be used when no value tested or declared, for example for PCB's?
Decision:
1. The manufacturer’s claim is not adequate and must be backed by an independent test
report/certificate from a recognised test house.
2. No testing considered necessary if the material is approved and fit for purpose. However
if not approved than single test is not acceptable.
3. The least favourable value, for example CTI value of < 100.
