Question:
A piece of ITE (e.g. telecommunications rack) has multiple modular power supplies that are
removable. The supply connection (e.g. power supply cord) to the equipment terminates directly
to the power supplies. Is it permissible for the marked electrical ratings in the individual power
supplies to be used to comply with the electrical portion of the equipment’s power rating marking
(clause 1.7.1), or must the equipment be provided with a separate electrical rating marking?
Decision:
The electrical rating markings on the power supplies may be relied upon to meet the electrical
portion of the equipment’s power rating markings if (a) the mains supply connection terminates
directly to the power supply, (b) the power supply electrical rating(s) is readily visible, and (c) the
equipment has a separate single marking that covers the other aspects of the power rating
marking required by 1.7.1 e.g., manufacturer, model.
