Question:
IEC 61215:2005 Ed.2, Clause10.15.2.a) requires certain surface tension of the water
for the wet leakage current test, however, the newer standard IEC 61646:2008 Ed.2
Clause 10.15.2.a) does not. The water surface tension measurement was required
also in the IEC 61646 Ed.1, but this requirement was deleted in the second edition.
The WG2 of TC82 has made the same decision for the upcoming IEC 61215 Ed.3
standard. This standard, however, is not due to be released until 2010 or later. It is,
therefore, suggested to resolve this discrepancy by this decision sheet.
Decision:
Instead of IEC 61215:2005 Ed.2 Clause 10.15.2.a) use IEC 61646:2008 Ed.2 Clause
10.15.2.a)
