QuestionIEC 62133:2002 Subclause 2.5 and IEC 62133:2012 Subclause 5.6.1 requests that:
Cells used in the assembly of batteries shall have closely matched capacities, be of the same design,
be of the same chemistry and be from the same manufacturer.
What is considered as acceptable in regards to “closely matched capacities”?
Decision
If an active charge and discharge current control is used that, over the lifetime of the battery
assemblies, ensures the charging and discharging current of each parallel connected cell are within
the acceptable range of cell manufacturers’ specifications, the battery can be seen as one with
closely matched capacities.
