The apparatus covered by this standard is subdivided into categories. For each category,$ A; J& t5 p% \

4.1 Category I: apparatus containing no electronic control circuitry.

tools, heating appliances, UV and IR radiators and apparatus containing components such as) g$ E+ x4 t ~7 a
electromechanical switches and thermostats.
! _" C( i+ N6 q8 m2 o4 F( l0 YElectric circuits consisting of passive components (such as radio interference suppression5 _' `7 M8 {/ C5 k0 t; C T, n
capacitors or inductors, mains transformers and mains frequency rectifiers) are not considered2 Z( t3 s- ` ]5 G' }0 D
to be electronic control circuitry.

and microwave ovens) containing electronic control circuitry with no internal clock frequency or

NOTE For toys, examples include educational computers, organs, track sets with electronic control units.

which in normal use is not connected to the mains, containing an electronic control circuitry8 @6 d: I3 ^" h
with no internal clock frequency or oscillator frequency higher than 15 MHz.: ^* X0 P: G+ ^1 o
This category includes apparatus provided with rechargeable batteries which can be charged

as an apparatus in category II while it is connected to the mains network.
