18 Limited Short-Circuit Test

test is not required to be repeated during the investigation of the end product./ |$ a& {0 w9 E' F$ J' f
18.1.3 Three samples of a control thermistor are to be subjected to this test. The test is to be conducted% F$ R. t2 P6 Z) O; O
at rated voltage (Vr).
) \' l9 d$ S o/ A; T18.1.4 A ground fuse is to be connected between the metal enclosure, metal mounting surface, or metal
J5 ?2 G2 J6 N0 {screen described in 18.1.5 and the unswitched line to indicate an arc-over to the enclosure or mounting
; w0 k9 ^5 s& v, G! A4 U" |& ksurface. Where each line is switched, the fuse is to be connected between the enclosure, mounting1 ?% j- j# s! Z; B3 J0 {+ i3 b! c
surface, or screen and the live pole least likely to arc to ground. The fuse is to be a 3.0 A nontime-delay4 |3 W/ w' B# j7 Y% E! A
fuse having a voltage rating not less than the rated voltage (Vr) of the thermistor.
; `6 ?0 l$ ?0 v7 O, r1 h8 N2 b18.1.5 Cotton not less than 12.7 mm (1/2 in) thick is to surround a metal screen enclosing the thermistor- K6 ?% U* h7 E) F/ `
at a distance not more than 12.7 mm from all parts of the thermistor.
4 H3 l! H" x! l18.1.6 The cotton is to be surgical cotton, such as commonly used for medical purposes. |
