Question: In sub clause 7.1, there is the following text: “ Portable hairdryer, curling irons
and similar appliances shall be marked with the substance of the following warning:
WARNING: Do not use this appliance near water contained in bath-tubs, basins or
other vessels (or appropriate symbol)”
The text of the French version is: “ Les sèche-cheveux portatifs …”
“portatif” in French means “hand-held” which is quite different than portable.
Which text is correct ?
Decision: English version is correct.
The French version must be changed with “mobile” (English: portable) instead of
