- Clause 20.7.1 of IEC 60598-2-20 requires that Edison screw lampholders E10, E14 and E 27 shall8 M0 ^8 M5 S1 Q. m8 f$ H3 ?5 x
meet the requirements of IEC 60238.
# b. j' L E! O' F3 A3 T; t- Clause 8.2 of IEC 60238 requires that lampholder shall be tested according to the gauges 7006-30

5 j4 S3 I& L6 G8 O7 ZIn the case shown in photos 1 and 2, the only possibility to fulfill the requirements with gauge 7006-30 is

8 q* `3 O W, V2 j" R2 E$ q1 a5 Yfulfill the requirement of 7006-31 for protection against electric shock. In the note after the fourth
% @! k- Y8 g/ t6 g. G& X4 k- A* ^paragraph of clause 20.12.1 of IEC 60598-2-20 it is written that the gasket may serve as protection against
7 L! T4 f4 B7 w5 I" T. `accidental contact with the cap of the lamp, but only for bayonet lampholder. So, it is not applicable to the
O" }, O- b A0 S( e/ \$ IE14 lampholder.! S' b& L& p8 X, C6 o8 _+ ~4 ^
In the case shown in photo 3 the test with gauge 7006-31 gives negative result.
$ f+ Q, O P4 e' P! bIn the two cases, the lampholders have been designed to accept E14/20 lamp cap only (and not E14/23x153 {$ M0 o% V- i ~
or E14/25x17). So, if the tests are performed with these kind of lamps, the test requirements are fulfilled.
3 h: F( ]7 }; f3 T! w$ ZWe think that this lampholder used in a lighting chain is not in compliance with the standard due to the' e# y$ L; {5 ^& w6 G6 N H
requirement of clause 20.7.1. What is the opinion of the other laboratories?

The lampholder can be accepted as part of lighting chain / luminaire. All requirements according to IEC& u/ l0 r/ V3 s) t% p4 W8 M% U( Q
60238 as far as applicable have to be fulfilled and the gauge 7006-31 shall comply.
