Decision: Yes, provided that:
# u+ J* X+ X2 L+ u% y( X: T- the LED circuit shall be verified according to IEC/EN 61347-2-13 or IEC/EN
1 T" H! M! l. ^3 M61347-2-11 (*) and the LED shall be tested according to IEC/EN 60825 –18 p9 B! J/ N2 ~- @5 }: n( Z
(Safety of laser products) (§)-(#), if it has laser radiation in the wavelength
' v {( _# J5 Dranging from 180 nm to 1 mm. Only LEDs classified as Class 1 lasers can be$ `/ F% {4 w9 @$ H5 `& L
used without problems for lighting purposes without protection.! @9 f1 H# v$ P/ ~
- The thermal tests required in Section 12 of IEC/EN 60598-1 shall be carried' w, ?- e2 _1 S4 u) H0 W
out as follows:
9 d% ]* x1 q: s/ D7 ea) Luminaires (Class I or II) with built-in control gear shall be tested: j9 h( Z" Q% ~/ i: {
according to the requirements of IEC/EN 60598-2-6.
. V/ Y' Q4 `; K4 \9 ^0 Hb) For Class III luminaires the manufacturer shall provide the necessary
U9 u U1 D/ w: @ P! R+ C, g$ x$ binformation to power up the LED circuit correctly in the instruction sheet.2 c; }1 t5 k1 J9 |1 T S
Alternatively, the manufacturer shall inform Testing Station about the% l/ g" C* o# V2 H! b. A( o
trade mark, the type and the technical characteristics of the appropriate
/ _( _+ q( J# v: Zcontrol gear to be used. There are three different control gears namely, the
T1 j s6 N) {3 M9 Ttype and the trade mark as indicated by the luminaire manufacturer; an! p5 V6 }7 T2 f, ^
electronic control gear clearly specified in the luminaire instruction sheet
0 `# g1 m$ Y9 v/ uand a ferromagnetic control gear. The tests shall be carried out as required) e; _: U0 G! P3 F+ U4 H! V. X
in Section 12 according to IEC/EN 60598-2-6 with the appropriate control
: U$ h4 T0 w$ \3 }' G8 I" `gear.

over IEC/EN 61347-2-11.
