Question:
Can VDR resistors be connected from live parts to earthed metal parts? If yes, can they be accepted under the condition?
Decision:
VDR resistors between live parts and earth can be accepted if the appliance complies with the insulation requirements of the standard, Clauses 13, 16 and 19, and the varistor has a weak part in any part of the circuit in series with it.Varistors are not reliable safety components and can short circuit at any time.
