Question:
For the measurement of the open circuit voltage on a ballast with two lamps in series:
2 a: O, R, M) B/ y7 v1) Is it correct to take the measurements across both lamps, not one at the time, because the
total voltage of the two lamps in series has to be measured?
) e- ^' P& v! g% a0 l+ J' v2) If the answer to 1) is yes, does it make sense to take the value referred in the data sheet to
9 @# v9 d1 b5 ^: ]& h: v; bone lamp as the limit value of the open circuit voltage during preheating (measured across
two lamps)?
3) During ignition, the open circuit voltage shall be greater than the minimum voltage
- h7 I) P0 u1 R' G% m; kspecified in the lamp data sheet for two lamps in series. Is there any data sheet that specifies
the minimum voltage for two lamps in series or has the minimum value for one lamp to be
used for two lamps in series?
) F; u4 K, g: G! M& \8 C; rDecision:
1) Yes.
2) Yes, if the value is indicated in the data sheet or in the instructions of the lamp manufacturer.
Otherwise, twice the value for one lamp can be used.
3) The minimum voltage must be less than the maximum value of one lamp during preheating and at least
the value of two lamps after preheating.
