In § 4 of IEC 61048 and in § 3 of IEC 61049 rules for the sampling plan are provided. Beside the main
9 C3 _2 d4 D; i: h$ _rule, the following additional statement is given: “The capacitor with the maximum capacitance per unit
% `) D1 d; Y  i$ L( c$ h1 x' fsurface area shall also be tested if this ratio exceeds that of the maximum capacitance value in the range
by 10% or greater. Similarly, the capacitor with the minimum capacitance per unit area shall also be tested
* ~  i4 l  V- d* G6 w/ q& p% sif this ratio is less than that of the minimum capacitance value in the range by 10% or greater”.

Decision:
! B7 {7 ^' V8 g  {8 ~# LFor the time being, apply the following proposed solution:
When the above case occurs, each group referred to in § 11 of IEC 61048 or in § 4 of IEC 61049 shall
9 V( w# N- t% ~2 Tcontain as nearly as possible equal numbers of capacitors of the highest capacitance and of capacitors with
capacitance per unit surface area exceeding that of the maximum capacitance value in the range by 10%
or greater. Similarly, each of those groups, shall contain as nearly as possible equal numbers of capacitors
1 {6 X0 [, J' L3 i) M9 d" jof the lowest capacitance and of capacitors with capacitance per unit surface area less than that of the
! M" Z! J2 k& n: }minimum capacitance value in the range by 10% or greater.
Example – IEC 61048 - § 11 – self-healing capacitor.
9 a9 V: V# a% U% n. P4 AA sampling of 50 capacitors is required and according to the above decision they shall be split as follows:
- 12 (13) capacitors of the highest capacitance in the range;
, G0 t+ f( N/ C% }. t; `- 13 (12) capacitors with the maximum capacitance per unit surface area exceeding that of the
maximum value in the range by 10% or greater;
- 12 (13) capacitors of the lowest capacitance in the range;
