) k0 q9 T- Z! t/ \Decision: In principle, apply the requirements given in IEC/EN 60825-1 (*)-(#). However) ]4 Z6 S( x$ {. j
in order to avoid expensive measurements, luminaires provided with LEDs3 ]4 ^# [* I4 T% |5 z
should be treated as follows:6 G2 l7 h0 r2 e6 p% q
- If the light intensity is low, i.e. from a conventional LED for indication or signalling$ L1 `7 g; K; U$ d5 t, |7 o
purposes, the LED is most likely comparable with a laser of Class 1 according to IEC/EN
2 t/ b7 \6 [! a; V: L% U60825-1 (*)-(#) and consequently there is no need for measurements. During the6 j7 s; B9 ]$ ]& R! R6 r7 Z
judgement, the covers, optics and similar parts that can be removed by hand, shall be8 L0 @' e# T+ d6 c) \1 U( Z) H
removed. In the TRF, it is indicated that the light intensity has been judged to comply* \" h9 ~! T$ i( ~' J7 N$ a) r }
with the limits given for Class 1 lasers in IEC/EN 60825-1 (*)-(#) and that no
) F, W5 m! b% F8 Y' K; k2 X- ~- fmeasurement is made.' u7 |" n+ x0 x2 h; Z3 o2 N; A
- In all other cases the luminaire manufacturer shall be asked to provide a declaration based
4 _9 e- i7 ?9 w `( c* S" kon relevant tests (e.g. from the LEDs manufacturer) showing that the radiation from the' n2 l9 y8 ]! F1 p- U* e) d0 L
LED module does not exceed the values given in IEC/EN 60825-1 (*)-(#) for Class 1
/ `+ z/ D) v4 v sor1M lasers with or without optics. In the TRF, it is indicated that judgement is based on
4 m+ p& h5 d) z. c& Amanufacturer’s declaration.
3 J7 w9 U& J; L6 B. m7 W- If such a declaration is not provided or if judgement not possible, the measurements& c H# m; q3 P: I$ M, h) Y0 y+ |
given in IEC/EN 60825-1 (*)-(#) shall be performed. In the TRF, it is indicated that9 Y0 ^3 H" `: j1 i" J4 |
measurements have been performed. For luminaires containing light sources providing! n) x3 d2 T+ k3 z8 u
radiation according to Class 2 lasers, the luminaire shall be treated as a laser source9 g) T: y) K4 T1 S# z* V' D
according to IEC/EN 60825-1 (*)-(#) and comply with the requirements given in that7 K! h' c! U( r/ Y- u* ~8 U: P; B
standard.
