Background: OSM 2012 found it useful to have a similar decision for EN 60065 as the decision 01/8 for EN 60950-1. It has lately been questioned by the chairman of IEC TC108/MT1 that the decision 12/2 may amend EN 60065. Thus, we are proposing a revision of 12/2. Ref. OSM/EE – 2007 Item No.7.1 (enclosed):
% `/ m( Q# s# d3 N% ^“OSM decision 01/8 requires markings on the product (e.g. "Use only power supplies listed in the user manual / user instruction." or “For applicable power supplies see user instruction”). Furthermore such sentences shall be in the languages acceptable to the country where the product will be used.
  B# ~" W) z7 w+ r* u6 \8 j: ?We cannot assume that all people speak or understand English and therefore it is necessary to put nearly all languages of such relevant safety instructions on the product.

! L) \) Z, {% ^. h$ N1 TOSM/EE-2007 agreed to use instead of such instructions (sentences) on the product, international accepted symbols like these both marks (ISO 7000-0434 and ISO 7000-1641):
  m  y1 M( Q. i( ^6 `$ K& q; j: F9 rLater it was confirmed by TC108/MT1 that the book only can be used as an alternative. See explanatory notes below. Based on this it is proposed to revise decision 12/2 as amended with red text under the decision below.
In case safety of an end apparatus relies upon the power supply for general use (adaptor) to EN 60065 apparatus, the use of the specific adaptor needs to be controlled.

Extract of 5.4 Instructions:

It would be useful to have a similar Decision for 60065 as the Dec 01/8 to EN 60950-1.

Decision: This decision replaces 12/2 with the amended text in red:
When safety of an apparatus relies upon the power supply (adaptor) using a non-special connector for the a.c./d.c. input, the apparatus must have a marking stating the following: "Use only power supplies listed in the user instructions"
or
% P; q+ Q9 l9 J3 X"For applicable power supplies see user instructions". This statement shall also be in the user-instructions.
The user instructions must then have a listing of manufacturers and models of the relevant power supplies. As an alternative to the text on the product, it is acceptable to use both the symbols ISO 7000-0434 and ISO 7000-1641. The book alone is also sufficient (ISO 7000-1641).
