If the power input varies throughout the operating cycle and the maximum value of the power input exceeds, by a factor greater than two, the power input is determined a the arithmetic mean value of the power input occurring during a representative period, then the power input is the maximum value that is exceeded for more than 10 % of the representative period. Otherwise the power input is taken as the arithmetic mean value.
