This program provides traceability for wiring harnesses that are
2 Q6 n3 `. ^; |5 J% C; Iassembled at off-site locations and intended for use as factory
8 A% ]' v. o- hinstalled components at an end-product manufacturing facility. They
( x: f' z5 H" Xare defined as components consisting of two or more wires joined5 b: v' U8 j2 j" l6 `
electrically and/or mechanically, and may include connectors, plugs,
& E. d& b x2 q3 x* O; ^, a$ W# ustrain reliefs, splices, etc. When assembled at an off-site location,& g( b( o$ |/ V' M
traceability for components used to construct a wiring harness is
, V) l- F# h. E( ?2 p: ?! u; f# Dnot possible at an end-product factory location. This program can; F% |2 \; n& i% `
be used to provide this traceability. Each wiring harness is normally- E. _8 K; c: y5 m7 Y" i: b
constructed in accordance with a harness diagram and is generally
9 p% R3 l, I3 x. b6 C1 u t0 W7 Ydesigned for a specific application that is indicated on a diagram
* P* [3 I! @) S) Y4 eor carton marking. These wiring harnesses are not intended for7 R8 U# F+ H( H# c) M' ^
field installation. An assembly consisting solely of a cord set, power
6 ?! h: T4 ?5 V' j6 j5 J- J5 R; |supply cord or power supply cord attached to an appliance such as5 T* U0 T! z9 T- n0 Q
a motor is not eligible for coverage under this program.

An off-site fabricator assembles a wiring harness in accordance with& ]* F2 O$ ~5 h2 U- b
a harness diagram, print or other specification from an end-product7 R' \' _1 R% h- i5 r4 q9 X/ G
manufacturer that details construction elements and components* C3 u) o: m' P; I9 b
to be used in assembling a harness. A harness manufacturer5 h2 R$ Y( j6 r; o
will assemble a harness in accordance with these specifications& p7 F* } y- [5 N& l
and, provided that a wiring harness is in compliance with these% A, m% c) S: m4 V
specifications, it may be shipped with the UL Mark. Traceability for
6 B& d d5 X2 m- {9 ethese construction elements is further determined at an end-product/ P8 p' F7 z7 D; z$ n' O9 {
manufacturing location and involves verifying that these features* K0 D" S3 A5 z
comply with an end-product Follow-Up Services procedure.
