The following equipment is subjected to a drop test:
- i2 D8 J9 f( R8 Z' O# W  |4 ^− HAND-HELD EQUIPMENT;
− DIRECT PLUG-IN EQUIPMENT;
− TRANSPORTABLE EQUIPMENT;
- G: Q  z8 m( F- P% @8 ]− desk-top equipment having a mass of 5 kg or less that is intended for use with any one of
$ x/ Q5 H3 E# `/ c% u1 ?$ z7 ]0 m+ ithe following:
• a cord-connected telephone handset, or
• another cord-connected hand-held accessory with an acoustic function, or
• a headset;
− MOVABLE EQUIPMENT requiring lifting or handling by the USER as part of its intended use.
NOTE An example of such equipment is a paper shredder that rests on a waste container, requiring its removal to

that result from being dropped onto a horizontal surface in positions likely to produce the most

The height of the drop shall be:
− 750 mm ± 10 mm for desk-top equipment as described above;
- c; r) i8 O. y- J; o− 750 mm ± 10 mm for MOVABLE EQUIPMENT as described above;
− 1 000 mm ± 10 mm for HAND-HELD EQUIPMENT, DIRECT PLUG-IN EQUIPMENT and
$ W3 v# ]5 q" n+ R; b9 g1 |3 X3 }9 uTRANSPORTABLE EQUIPMENT.
The horizontal surface consists of hardwood at least 13 mm thick, mounted on two layers of
) ~8 }# z1 a' i9 b  U  G7 ~" aplywood each 19 mm to 20 mm thick, all supported on a concrete or equivalent non-resilient
* S) w8 O4 l  }' F  @  F' k5 a! afloor.
Compliance criteria are in 4.2.1.
