Three test samples, each individual sample consisting of three or more layers of non-separable
# `1 n& p1 ?# [thin sheet material forming REINFORCED INSULATION, are used. One sample at a time is fixed to4 e4 A/ A0 y a8 f9 t
the mandrel of the test fixture (Figure 14) as shown in Figure 15.

, s% s5 l( ?* ` O4 P s8 JAfter this preconditioning, a sheet of metal foil, 0,035 mm ± 0,005 mm thick, at least 200 mm$ M& s% Y3 ~" @- r( m0 P! |4 p
long, is placed along the surface of the sample, hanging down on each side of the mandrel' u4 ^9 N% h( P$ A% k) s
(see Figure 16). The surface of the foil in contact with the sample shall be conductive, not+ P- Q a$ K) g2 I" k: E
oxidised or otherwise insulated. The foil is positioned so that its edges are not less than 18 mm G4 p9 v* b" y# Z- } z
from the edges of the sample (see Figure 17). The foil is then tightened by two equal weights,! \% m5 Q1 Z1 h" e
one at each end, using appropriate clamping devices.

/ t+ h/ t* ~$ Z. M0 N* xdielectric strength test is applied between the mandrel and the metal foil in accordance with
k* C' v8 p0 h10.3.2, using a test voltage of 1,5 times the value specified in Table 5 for REINFORCED/ Q' D4 f$ ]% W4 Y
INSULATION, but not less than 5 kV.
