In the Foreword of the second edition of IEC/EN 61558-1 the following statement occurs: “This new
( F# S; p* c% K  Oedition of Part 1 is only to be used in conjunction with parts 2 based on this edition. The Parts 2 contain
! x; f  _2 D, C/ R, bclauses of this Part 1 in order to provide the relevant requirements for each type of transformers”.
# Q% e: ], c( e4 m8 \However, only 3 sections of Parts 2 (2-1, 2-2 and 2-7) are based on the second edition of part 1 today.
. F; D* r) Z+ f6 v+ |, VA) How do we deal with manufacturers that wish to use the second edition of Part 1 for sections of Parts 2
that are not based on second edition of Part 1? Can we use the second edition of Part 1?
B) How to treat a case where a transformer is covered by two different sections of Parts 2, one linked to
the second edition and the other linked to the first edition of Part 1?
